PanDao Update 1.3.0

Its finally here! We have a big update for you. Today we released PanDao 1.3.0 which includes our first version of simulating prism fabrication! You are now able to simulate fabrication of three, four and five sided prisms with PanDao. With four sided prisms, you are also able to simulate the fabrication of wedge plates. For the first months, prism fabrication simulation will be free to try out for our existing customers. Later this could become an extra paid option.

We do not want to go into details on how to enter prisms in this blog post as there are lots of new parameter and options. You can find all the details in the manual.

Just a few things to have a faster start into prism fabrication. To select a prism in PanDao you just have to increase the number of sides in the general tab or choose one of our three new stereotype lenses:

prism general parameters

With that some more sides will show up. Also, a tab for the two assembly sides (none optical or mounting sides) will be displayed. There are a few new parameters which are needed:

Min pyramidal error[min]: Angular deviation in optical prisms where the faces are not perpendicular to a common base, giving the prism a slight, pyramid-like tilt.

Surface length[mm]: Length of the side of a prism

Surface length tolerance[mm]: Length tolerance for the side

Angle between side N and N+1[°]: Angle on the left side of the prism side, going clockwise around.

Angle Tolerance [min]: Corresponding tolerance for the angle.

Min angle tolerance N to E[min]: The smallest angle tolerance from a side to the assembly sides.

Cost share for contacting only:  This parameter is only used for sides with optical contacting. It tells PanDao how much of the cost of the mounting strip is offset to the customer per order.

Also, there is a new option:

Mounting strip (optical contacting only) Calculation Method: For default, PanDao calculates the length of the mounting strip used for fabrication. With this parameter, this can be overruled.

Then in the result tab some more information will be displayed:

In addition to the fabrication chain for each side, you will now also get the used mounting regime, mounting strip width and length used. Also, the fabrication of the assembly sides are shown. Also the technology used for separating the individual prisms is shown:

Please note that this is our first take on prism fabrication and even if we carefully tested them there could still be some errors. So if you think something behaves odd, please do not hesitate to contact us!

A small other thing we did with this update is to actualize our prices for CDGM stock glasses.
